Disney wants to buy Marvel Entertainment

Disney has announced that it plans on purchasing Marvel Entertainment for about $4 billion dollars.

I am not quite sure what to think of all this? What exactly is Disney going to do with Marvel property?  Also, $4 billion dollars? Marvel is doing pretty well from themselves.
