So the guys over at Kotaku just confirmed that this $300 price cut isn’t all what it seems right now. So what is it really? Well Kotaku found a nice Japanese article that showed what you’d actually be spending on the new little piece of hardware.
• PS3 Slim = ¥29,980 (US$318)
• PS3 Slim + Game = ¥36,980 ($394)
• PS3 Slim + Game + Stand = ¥38,980 ($415)
• PS3 Slim + Game + Stand + HDMI Cable = ¥41,980 ($447)
• PS3 Slim + Game + Stand + HDMI Cable + 2nd Controller = ¥47,480 ($505)
So you probably don’t need the stand or HDMI cables, but a game can cost up to $60-$70 and additional controllers go for about $50. But hey, this can be said of all new systems you buy right? I do have to say the price tag of $300 is much better than what the PS3 cost originally. Also, with a 120 GB hard drive and some other new pimped out features, it is still very appealing – even with the extra expenses.
